Blessed are the healthy

J: About a week ago my sister and I were sitting at the bench when out of nowhere she tells me were cutting our hair to raise money for the leukemia foundation. At first I was terrified (I cut my hair short a few years ago and it only just recovered in the last 12 months) and said no!
After speaking to friends to see if they’d sponsor me if I actually did do it I realised how much we could contribute to the foundation and figured I had to do it. So over the last week we’ve been collecting money from friends and teachers…
S:…and so far we have raised over half of what we planned. I thought that when I got my hair cut that it wouldn’t be that short, and that I’d keep my fringe, and I’d have it styled…and I this,I that. Then I realised that it’s not about me, it’s about raising money for a worthy cause, and trying to make a difference to someone else’s life. I only hope that for our next fundraising event, we can raise more than enough to make a difference.
J:… After all this we got our hair cut today. After getting home I felt so grateful that I could actually decide whether I wanted to cut my hair or not, and although I did love my long hair I know it will grow back and that what we did today might put a smile on someone elses face.
Hope you had a splendid day,
J and S.
